Pause and reflect

At the eve of a new year a cheap shot at a reflection pun.
Looking back is nice, I've had a great year, but looking forward is what will inspire the next one to be even better. Spend it wisely but spend it well.

Stand out tree

You can hang with a crowd in the background or step forward and stand out.

Why take a photograph?

What you see is an old mine, silhouetted by a setting sun. A snap of a place, emotive maybe, but a local history guide could tell and show you more.
What I see is a trigger to a memory and that is the power of a photograph. You'll never see it. I'll never forget it.

Stripped back and moving

Give anything time and you'll see it differently. A winter's forest in a gale shows its strength and its gentle beauty.

No friendly forests

A forest will draw you in with it's majesty but it retains a sinister air.

A message to whoever

Yes, it's someone else's art. But I love street art, I love a message, I love cryptic.

Spray can on the pulse

Taken a couple of weeks back in Hull. It takes an artist to get the message to the people.

Sun breakthrough

A shaft of sun on a group of silver birches and the landscape glows.

Simplicity

The photo denies the effort that has gone in to putting the wall there in the first place. It's both art and craft.

A simple silhouette with cloud. Sometimes that's enough.

Taking a Peak

Had a lovely couple of days in the Peak District and in between lone-wandered under the sun. I'll be dragging this out a while as I was quietly impressed with what I took away!

It's art if that's what you want

The joy and value in art is that it's personal. You can take anything and either interpret it or present it in a way that looks 'arty'. So that's what I did.

Art is art, words is words.

If you have something to say then words is the way to go. If you just want to share art then draw or paint and let it be acknowledged and loved for what it is. There's letters in a message, love in art.

Street Art

If you can fight your way past the Yodas then the pavement artists are worth a look, and a £1 too, don't forget they are at work!

Like eyes on a face

Like beautiful eyes on a beautiful face, good architecture makes you want to look deeper. This is the Tate Modern extension. What you find inside depends on how you see.

No apologies for posting another picture from the same place. I loved it here, had been waiting to go for a while and it was one of the best times.

If you're a fan of all art then you'll appreciate sculpture and if you love sculpture you love to see it in the environment where it belongs. To which end, thank you Antony Gormley.

Colour can be too real to be poetic.

It's colour and I don't really 'do' colour, it lacks the creative gut, but at the end of the day nature turned it a bit yellow so it gets to stay.

He knows the tourists will pass this way so he plays his fiery tuba and shares the audience.

See what you see

To me a picture I like is one that makes me want to look harder, that creates different images in my mind. It may only be branches of trees, but what does it remind you of, what does it make you think?

This was my Filmwasters Postcard Exchange entry for 2017. Taken on a Holga because what a grey scene really needs is a vignetted distorted and sometimes out of focus treatment to cheery it up a bit.
